Having Shannon brutally murdered toward the end of the book was so disgustingly unnecessary. Now Riley is a cuddly kitten in comparison.
Aden didn't need to become this heartless monster. Well, you know what, ladies? You had Riley for that. I'm well aware that a lot of girls will be drooling over this new evil Aden, because apparently heartless, violent, and controlling cavemen are a turn-on for some women. Showalter wanted an excuse to turn Aden into an asshole, so she turned him into a vamp. Now he cares about no one, is cold, and has no problem with murdering people. He was genuinely kind and caring and flat-out nice. Aden was my favorite part of this series. It's like going from watching My Little Ponies to watching the Saw movies.įirst of all, let me start with the fact that Aden, our main character suddenly has a new personality, because Gena Showalter can't write realistic nice guys. I don't mind if the tone of a series changes slightly, but if I all of a sudden feel like I'm reading a completely different series, I'm not going to be happy. Gena Showalter is officially on my shit-list.
